Monday Musings Vol. 4 // Winter? Spring? Sun? Rain? What do I wear?!

Y’all this weather, the blooms, the blue skies. I love it. Seriously, I do… but really… WHAT DO YOU EVEN WEAR?! This Monday I’m gonna muse about my favorite transitional wardrobe staples. These types of pieces are exactly what you need to help survive the warm days, random cold snaps, and crisp nights.

Spring Transitional Staples

Denim Jacket

First of all you have to have something you can throw on with anything. Enter, the denim jacket. Does anyone else remember throwing/donating these away in high school, thinking… “I’ll never wear that again.” Boy was I wrong… I live in my denim jacket and wear it with everything. Anyone else living for this trend? I sure hope it sticks around this time because it’s the perfect top layer for any and all outfits. Athleisure? Check. Flowy florals? Check. Denim on denim? Check.

Lightweight Layers

Next, and the most obvious, lightweight layers. I love a flowy top more than anyone. Like give me something with a cute sleeve and a peplum, and I’m in heaven. Also, have you noticed all the wrap tops this season? SO. CUTE. They’re flattering on almost anyone and transition so well from cute and fun to business casual. Now is the time to live up those lightweight, button-down, long sleeve tops. They’re so cute as a base layer and totally dress up a pair of jeans. I love how we can rock these tops now with a pair of jeans and then take them into early summer with a pair of cute distressed shorts.

Boyfriend jeans

Speaking of pants… I was strictly a straight leg, skinny jean kind of girl until recently. I’m obsessing over the boyfriend/mom jean trend. Anyone else feeling it? I know there’s total mixed emotions on this one. Where do you stand? Are you pro or anti the baggier/higher waist look?

Sunnies

We’ve been spending so much time outside with this perfect weather. If you know me, you know I traditionally rock glasses and not contacts, but with all this gorgeous weather and outside time, I’ve had to ditch the glasses and go for some shades. Recently, Free People had their glasses for 50% off, and I had to contain myself, because at one point I had 5 pairs in my cart, but I ended up ordering 2 of my favorites. I can’t WAIT for them to get here! Unboxing video perhaps?

Silk Scarves

Okay… so I’ve always had this stash of silk scarves from my grandmother/great-grandmother. For years I’ve put one on, looked in the mirror, loved it, and then ripped it off as I headed out the door. Not anymore! I’m so glad scarves are so trendy again! I just think they’re so glamorous, and add such an elegant pop of color to any outfit. There are SO MANY WAYS to wear them! I love tying them in my top knot to add a little depth and class to it. Are you into the silk scarf trend?

Flats for everything in between

Finally, my favorite thing to talk about… SHOES. Spring shoes are hard. Too warm for boots, too cold for sandals… what’s a girl to do?! Enter my favorite… the mule! There’s so many out there right now, and seriously, there’s not a shoe that is more perfect than a mule. I’m also loving the cut out boots/flats with a little personality to them. I am drooling over this pair from Target. I’ve been on such a shoe spree, I need to cool my jets, but these might have to be added to my cart very soon.
